Air Stream
Merge the best of two cultures to transform a typical American mobile home into a stylish exponent for Scandinavian design and heritage. At the studio we were intrigued by the American mobile home. The RV (Recreational vehicle) represents the essence of the American dream: freedom! Freedom to go wherever and do whatever. “I thought to myself, why not make a Scandinavian interpretation of the American mobile home?” In the end Søren Rose chose the iconic silver Airstream trailer as the foundation of the project.
“What is so cool about the Airstream trailer, is that it reflects its surroundings,” says Søren Rose and continues with conviction, “so when it’s placed in a big city like New York you’ll get buildings and skyline, and when it’s in Arizona you get the beautiful desert.” What happens once you step into it, especially if it’s one of the older Airstream models, is somewhat of a design conflict compared to the clean lines of the exterior. And that aspect is what triggered something within Søren Rose and his team. “I wanted fewer, but prioritised quality items inside the Airstream.
The Rose AirStream trailer was made possible with the help of: Københavns Møbelsnedkeri, Dinesen, Bisazza, Gaggenau, Bang & Olufsen, Kvadrat and many more.
